Saudi, Iranian FMs for boosting bilateral relations

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal has described the talks held by Iranian President Muhammad Khatami and King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz as very important, saying they helped to further strengthening of exchanged confidence between the two leaders and countries.
In press statements following his meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi, in Jeddah on Wednesday, al-Faisal added that results of President Khatami's "visit to Saudi Arabia were up to the requirements of the current phase."
He added, "On this basis my talks with the Iranian FM started from continued coordination and means of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries."
Replying to a question on the possible consequences regionally and internationally towards the forthcoming cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the Saudi foreign minister expressed his conviction that the results of such cooperation will be positive.
He added, "The two countries can play a key role in eliminating disputes in the region," expressing hope that this visit will be able to counter arising disputes and that confidence and common interests will be the basis for initiating firm relations between the countries of the region.
