1999 exports of early fruits and vegetables exceed 300,000 tons

Exports of early fruits and vegetables from Morocco for the 1999 season exceeded 300,000 tons, compared to 243,000 tons in the precedent campaign, the newsletter of professionals and exporters said.
Tomato exports hold the first rank with more than 218,000 tons, while potato exports reached 56,129 tons and exports of green beans, courgettes and pepper were respectively estimated at 5,472 tons, 10,857 tons and 3,280 tons.
France, which brought 35,847 tons of potatoes, was the largest market, followed by Germany (5,656 tons), the Netherlands (5,344 tons) and England (2,570 tons).
