Qaddoumi excludes achieving any progress in peace process
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/18/1999

Farouk Qaddoumi, the head of the political department of the P.L.O. (Palestinian Liberation Organization) excluded achieving any progress in the peace process after Ehud Barak, the leader of the Israeli Labor Party, has won the Israeli elections.

Qaddoumi told ArabicNews.com that Barak's electoral program doesn't differ from the program of the former Israeli prime ministers, as Barak also refuses to withdraw from Jerusalem, and he will continue building settlements.

Moreover Qaddoumi said that the Likud and Labor parties are two faces of a coin, adding that the Labor Party began the building of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as quickly as possible.

Qaddoumi also called on USA and European Union to halt all donations to Israel that are used in building settlements, saying this will be the main guarantee to stop establishing new settlements in the Arab territories.
