Moussa hopes peace will be established by next Israeli government
Egypt, Politics, 5/17/1999
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa expressed his hope that today's Israeli elections open the way for an able government to be a partner in establishing peace in the region and not to be an obstacle to the peace process.
In answering reporters' questions yesterday, he said, "This partner did not exist during the last few years as the Israeli government's policies, its practices and thoughts were obstructing the peace process, which led to ending up the matter comprehensively and freezing this process."
He added, "What currently concerns us is that the coming government be a partner in the peace process and able to bear the responsibility regardless of who is the premier of this government."
Moussa said, "The current stance requires that the coming Israeli government understands the future of the whole area, including Israel, based on peace, justice and security for all parties."
Moussa emphasized the importance of having a just peace in the area, which allows all parties to obtain their rights but not peace for just one side.
