Acts of violence continue in Algeria

Algerian dailies issued on Sunday said that five persons were killed and another seven were wounded following a bomb explosion in Hamzeh district, in Jijel province, 360 km from the capital, Algiers.
The Algerian daily "Liberte" said that an Algerian security patrol was moving in the village when the bomb was exploded, and simultaneously an armed group opened fire on the patrol. The paper added that the army forces carried out large-scale mopping-up operations in Seidi Ali Bu Nab mountain, 70 km east of the capital, following the aggression which claimed the lives of five soldiers and two members of the municipality guards, adding that 18 gunmen of the Armed Islamic Group were killed.
The Algerian daily added that the army forces killed seven gunmen, including one woman, in Mizranah mountain, north of Seidi Ali Bu Nab mountain as well as two gunmen in al-Wadi city, 600 km northeast of the capital. It said another gunmen was killed in Ein al-Defli during the military operations conducted on Friday night.
The paper added that leader of one armed group was killed in Mascara province, 400 km west of the capital, on Saturday.
For its part, the Algerian daily al-Khabar said the Algerian security forces confiscated great quantities of weapons during vast mopping-up operations in Ein al-Defli, Jeijel and al-Wadi.
The Algerian daily al-Youm reported, for its part, that the security forces killed one leader of the Armed Islamic Group called Tamim al-Mukhtar in Mascara province.
