Iranian president confers with Saudi FM
Saudi Arabia-Iran, Politics, 5/17/1999

Iranian President Muhammad Khatami met on Sunday at his residence in Jeddah with the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal. Prince Faisal described the meetings held between King Fahd and President Khatami on Saturday as "historic" and included the most important aspects in bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a statement following the meeting, the Saudi FM said that President Khatami and the Saudi king expressed satisfaction over the "developed level of the relations between the two countries," noting that such developed relations will be for the good not only of the two peoples and countries, rather for strengthening ties of fraternity among the Islamic states and their common interests.

Present at the meeting were the Iranian ministers accompanying President Khatami, the Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Iran's representative at the Organization of the Islamic Conference.
