Netanyahu, Barak and withdrawal from south Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 5/14/1999

Israel Radio on Thursday quoted the chairman of the divan of the Israeli government Yuri Elitsour as saying on Thursday that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in principle agrees to pulling Israeli army forces out of the Lebanese territories, and that Netanyahu does not set conditions for that of reaching an agreement with Syria.

Elitsour statements were made in reply to messages he received from the "Four Mothers" movement, which appealed to Netanyahu to take a clear stand concerning Israel's unilateral withdrawal from south Lebanon.

For his part, Israeli reserve General Yossi Beleid who received the same messages from the Israeli movement addressed to the chairman of the Labor Party, Ehud Barak, said that Barak set up a team of high-ranking security experts to crystalize a policy on all issues debated for discussions, including a plan to pull the Israeli forces out of the Lebanese territories.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Israeli Four Mothers movement, which calls for the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from south Lebanon, urged both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the chairman of the Labor Party, Ehud Barak, to take a clear position concerning the withdrawal of the army's forces from the Lebanese territories.
