Morocco and IAEA determined to upgrade partnership for peaceful use of nuclear energy

Director General of the Geneva-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed Al Bardaii, conferred Wednesday here with several Moroccan cabinet members on ways of fostering partnership between the Kingdom and the international agency for the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The IAEA chief mainly conferred with minister of energy and mining, Youssef Tahiri as well as with the minister in charge of the government general affairs, Ahmed Lahlimi.

Talks focused on Morocco's energy strategy and its adherence to the use of nuclear energy to peaceful ends.

Morocco-IAEA talks also covered prospects of technical cooperation, Morocco's sustained efforts in nuke scientific research studies, safety against radiation and the Moroccan project to build a nuclear desalination plant.
