Morocco-Nigeria, Economics, 5/13/1999
A Moroccan-Nigerian chamber of commerce has been set up under an accord concluded in Lagos, Nigeria, on Thursday.
A statement by Nigeria's embassy in Rabat said the accord was initialed by president of the Moroccan "International Access" group, Abdallah Slaoui, and president of the Nigerian "Jagal Ventures Ltd" group, Anwar Jarmakany.
The accord will contribute to consolidating bilateral relations and upgrading trade exchange between the two countries, said Morocco's ambassador to Nigeria, Abbes Kadiri, during the signing ceremony.
The diplomat said this accord, along with the agreement concluded recently between the Moroccan and Nigerian news agencies "MAP" and "NAN," is a new gain and will contribute to the consolidation of relations between Morocco and Nigeria. It will be an ideal reference frame to boost trade exchanges, he said.
Director general of the association of Nigerian chambers of commerce, industry, mining and agriculture (NACCIMA) expressed appreciation for the move and underlined that Morocco has become over the past two years Nigeria's third economic partner in Africa.
He announced that a Nigerian commercial delegation will shortly visit Morocco.
