Moussa confers with Merghani on Sudanese reconciliation

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa met with Mohammed Othman El-Mergani, head of the Sudanese opposition National Democratic Alliance, and El-Sadek El-Mahdi, leader of the Sudanese opposition Ummah Party and Sudanese former prime minister.

This meeting comes amid Egyptian efforts to contain disputes and achieve reconciliation in Sudan and reconciling all parts of the Sudanese problem, and Egyptian - Sudanese ties.

El-Sadek El-Mahdi said that Egypt support expanding the dialogue to comprise all political parties, members in the National Democratic Alliance where they have agreed on discussing this rapprochement in the leadership meeting in Asmara.

He also added that the meeting is held in concern for Sudan's unity, pointing out that the Egyptian FM was informed on all details that have taken place in Geneva.

Then El-Mahdi added that the Ummah party can never accept one sided reconciliation with Sudanese government, pointing out that he is going to take part in the meeting of the Sudanese opposition leaderships decided to be held in Eriteria.

Concerning his talks in Geneva with Dr. Hassan El-Torabi, El-Mahdi said the meeting in Geneva has produced a positive statement.

Concerning El-Nimeiri's return to Sudan on May 25, EL-Mahdi said it is just a political procedure, and it is a kind of maneuver in light of which he wants to get informed on Sudan's affairs, then he will be back to Cairo.
