Egyptian - European official talks

Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Fathi El-Shazeli convened with Carlos Bestrish the secretary general for foreign policy and European security affairs in the Spanish Foreign Ministry who is currently visiting Cairo.

El-Shazeli said that his talks with the Spanish official come in the framework of convening the first session from the Spanish - Egyptian expanded consultations which tackle the bilateral relations from its different aspects and the regional perspective for the two countries toward lots of regional and international issue of joint concern as Egypt and Spain are two sides in Barcelona operation for the European - Mediterranean cooperation and are members in the Mediterranean forum as Spain is an important member in NATO and the rest organization in Europe.

He added that Spain has a special concern for the peace process in the Middle East.

The Spanish official is to meet during his visit to Cairo with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid, and Minister of Economy Yousef Butros Ghali as well as of high-ranking officials in the Foreign Ministry.
