Israeli army is trained to occupy more Arab lands
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 5/13/1999

The Israeli daily Haartez reported yesterday that the Israeli army has established a simulation of an Arab village inside one of its camps with the objective of carrying out training on how to occupy parts of the West Bank.

The Israeli daily added, "The new facility, located at a base belonging to the Central Command, includes two longer streets set on a hill." It said, "The facility is designed to provide soldiers with skills they would need in a potential confrontation with Palestinians in the West Bank."

The said, "The idea is to train the troops to act effectively in civilian areas while avoiding injuries to civilians."

However, the spokesman for the Israeli army refused to confirm these information or deny it. He confined himself to saying, "The army is preparing for all possibilities."
