IAEA chief backs Morocco's efforts to use nuclear energy for peaceful ends

Director General of the Geneva-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed Al Bardaii, backed Tuesday in Casablanca Morocco's efforts to use nuclear energy for peaceful ends.

The IAEA chief, who arrived in Morocco on a working visit, also praised Morocco's resolve to use nuclear energy to sustain its socioeconomic development process and affirmed that his talks with Moroccan officials will focus on the technical assistance needed by Morocco to master the usage of nuke know-how in the fields of medicine, industry and agriculture.

He also underlined the social and economic importance of the nuclear desalination plant that Morocco is planning to build in the southern region and affirmed that the IAEA is interested by the project.
