King Abdullah in Washington on Friday

Jordan's King Abdullah Bin Hussein is due to head to Washington on coming Friday, in which will meet with US President Bill Clinton, high powered officials and US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright to discuss the developments of the situaton in the Middle East.

Jordanian diplomatic sources said that King Abdullah along with US president will discuss number of regional issues, including the future of peace process in light of the probable outcomes to the Israeli elections, the status in Iraq, and Kosovo, in addition that they tackled the bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

A Jordanian official said that King Abdullah hopes the US can make use of its good relations with Japan to help reduce Jordan's debts to Japan, which amount to $1.8 billion.

The official said the Jordanian monarch will seek to garner international and Arab support, especially after coming to power in succession of his late father, King Hussein Bin Talal, in order to get out of the economic crisis from which Jordan suffers.
