Morocco, Greece sign air transportation accord
Morocco-Greece, Economics, 5/11/1999
Morocco and Greece signed in Rabat on Monday a cooperation accord in air transportation.
The accord was initialled by Moroccan Transport and Merchant Navy Minister Mustapha Mansouri and visiting Greek Transport and Telecommunications Minister Anastasios Mandelis.
The agreement will provide a legal framework for bilateral cooperation in transportation matters and will open new horizons for the two countries' economic operators to widen trade exchange and increase tourism and cultural flows.
Mansouri said Morocco hopes to expand its transport cooperation with Greece to the maritime field and called for starting negotiations for the conclusion of an accord in this field.
He also stressed the need to conclude another agreement to govern the international road transport of goods and persons.
Mansouri announced that Morocco has officially applied to the European Commission to join the European space. He called on Greece to back the Moroccan bid, "which translates Morocco's will to integrate its regional environment and be ready for the association accord binding it to the European Union which will enter into force in year 2010."
