Moroccan cement group offers to incinerate industrial waste
Morocco, Business, 5/11/1999
The Moroccan cement group "CIOR" has proposed to Moroccan industrial units to incinerate their solid waste in the group's ovens.
The proposal was made during a recent seminar sponsored by CIOR and the Moroccan Chemical and Parachemical Federation.
The technique will provide a solution for the industrialists' difficulties in getting rid of their solid wastes.
CIOR's ovens turn non-stop at a temperature of 1,400 degrees Celsius, which no waste can resist, a CIOR expert said, adding that the group can consume up to 400,000 tons of wastes.
The technique has already proven to be successful in Europe, a Belgian expert who attended the seminar said, adding that the wastes should contain minerals that can be used in producing cement or have a high calorific content.
In order to avoid any harm to the environment, CIOR will analyze the environmental impact, a CIOR executive said, adding that the harmful wastes will be eliminated through other means.
The list of wastes that can be incinerated by CIOR includes coal tip shales, thermic groups' ashes, olive waste left after oil extraction and used tires.
