Syria, Culture, 5/11/1999

In the presence of Syrian Minister of Information Muhammad Salman, UNICEF on Monday night honored the renowned Syrian artist Dureid Laham on the occasion of assigning him as UNICEF ambassador to North Africa and the Middle East.

Commending the achievements of artist Laham, the minister said that his nomination as the UNICEF ambassador to North Africa and the Middle East is actually a step in honor of creativity and advancement in Syria. The minister added that honoring Laham by UNICEF reflects Syria's interest and utmost care given to children.
