US warplanes strike Iraqi positions

The US warplanes on Monday struck Iraqi defense positions during routine sorties carried out in the no-fly zone in northern Iraq.
A statement released by the US Incirlik base in southern Turkey said that US F-15 and F-16 jets dropped laser-guided bombs on Iraqi air defense positions and other positions in southwestern al-Mousel city.
This is the third US air raid on northern Iraq this week. The statement added that the US jets left the area safely and that damage to the Iraqi air sites was not immediately known.
