On the Sudanese, Eritrean agreement

Sudanese first Foreign Ministry secretary Hassan Abidin has described the agreement which was signed an in Doha, Qatar between Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and President Assyas Afworki of Eritrea as a "positive movement forward."

In a statement he made in Khartoum on Monday, Abidin added that the agreement stressed that every side should honor the other side, not interfere in its internal affairs and settle pending disputes by means of dialogue and peaceful means.

Abidin indicated that the Qatari mediator is making certain arrangements in consultation with the Sudanese and Eritrean sides to set up a joint committee. He expressed his hope that the Qatar's mediation will succeed in eliminating the reasons behind the disputes between Sudan and Eritrea.
