Meetings of the Egyptian - Moroccan higher committee delayed
Egypt-Morocco, Politics, 5/10/1999

The meetings of the Egyptian - Moroccan supreme joint committee that were scheduled for May 24-26 under the chairmanship of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Moroccan monarch, King Hassan II, were delayed.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said after "intensive contacts" between the two countries, it was decided to postpone the meeting and focus efforts on the position needed in the Arab world, mainly regarding the middle east peace process.

After contacts and in view of ongoing developments in the region, the two heads of state have decided to postpone to a later date their meeting so as to define a common and global approach on the situation (in the arab world). He added that such an approach would underline the predominant role of Morocco and Egypt in the peace process.
