Arab anti-terrorism pact enforced

The Arab anti-terrorism pact has been put into actual realization as from Friday May 7 after being ratified by eight Arab countries, as an introduction to be ratified by other Arab states.

Arab League Secretary General Esmat Abdul Meguid said that putting the agreement into actual realization is viewed as a great achievement for the Arab states.

Last Tuesday, the executive bureau of the council of the Arab ministers of justice, including Syria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Morocco, held its 18th meeting at the headquarters of the AL under the chairmanship of the Egyptian minister of justice and chairman of the executive bureau, Farouk Seif al-Naser.

The executive bureau for the council of the Arab ministers of justice expressed its satisfaction over putting the agreement on fighting terrorism into actual realization. The joint ministerial committee will set up a technical committee from the council of the Arab ministers of the interior and justice that will put the executive measures for the Arab anti-terrorism pact to fight terrorism in the judicial and security areas.

The bureau adopted the report of the technical committee of the council of the Arab ministers of justice and the report and recommendations of the committees in charge of unifying legislation and the committee of the Arab states' experts and representatives concerning the international criminal court, the UN's 16th conference on preventing crime and the report of the Arab center on legal and judicial researche.
