Emir of Kuwait: Relations between Nation's Council, government reached a deadlock
Kuwait, Politics, 5/6/1999
Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah related the dissolution of the Nation's Council (parliament) to practices by deputies who unjustly used constitutional provisions away from the constitution's spirit and society's values.
The relation between the Nation's Council and government reached a deadlock as the government accused members of the Nation's Council of exceeding their rights in interrogating ministers, while members of the Nation's Council said they insist on practicing their role in the parliamentary sponsorship of the government.
The decision to dissolve the Nation's Council came after the support of 26 members of the Nation's Council, which numbers 50 members, and a draft to withdraw confidence from Minister of Justice and Endowments Ahmed El-Koleib, which means that the minister's resignation became a matter of necessity after the Nation's Council by the state council that was specified to interrogate the minister regarding a copy of the holy Quran whose printing the Ministry of Justice and Endowments supervised, in which many printing mistakes appeared.
