Al-Sharaa confers with al-Qaddoumi

Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on Wednesday in Damascus received the chairman of the PLO political department, Farouk al-Qaddoumi.
Following their meeting, al-Qaddoumi, said that the Palestinian people hope Syria can play a role in supporting the Palestinian state.
He added that the Palestinian people are eager to reach their Independence Day and that surely Syria supports Palestinian hopes in addition to great concern with an Arab assembly to achieve Palestinian sovereignty, clarifying that the Palestinian state has been proclaimed since 1988 but what is going on is completing the measures of sovereignty and that May 4 is the start of the Palestinian right to adopt measures of sovereignty.
He also said that Syria is concerned with peace on the basis of Madrid conference and that they discussed together the Arab situation in general.
On the Palestinian side the meeting was attended by two members of the Fatah movement, Muhammad Jihad al-Ammouri and Abbas Zaki, and the PLO representative in Damascus, Mahmoud al-Khalidi.
