United Arab Emirates-Qatar-Yugoslavia, Economics, 5/6/1999

Two Qatari planes and one from the United Arab Emirates headed for Tirana on Tuesday carrying humanitarian aid to Kosovo's refugees.

AFP quoted official sources in Doha as saying that a Qatari plane carrying some 45 tonnes of medicines, foodstuffs and blankets left for Tirana together with a second plane loaded with 60 tonnes of private donations including foodstuffs, medicines and blankets.

Meanwhile, a UAE plane carrying humanitarian aid also left on Tuesday in the course of an airbridge established by the UAE to help the refugees in Kosovo.

The UAE plane, rented by the UAE Red Crescent, transported some 620 packages or humanitarian elements for families, each weighing 43 kg and containing baby powder milk, canned food and blankets.

Moreover, the UAE established a camp for the refugees in Kokos, northern Albania, equipped with a hospital. So far the UAE has sent 26 planes loaded with humanitarian aid to Kosovo.
