Egypt, New Zealand officials discuss WTO election, trade

Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Nagi El-Fotairi received New Zealand's ambassador in Cairo, David Payton.
El-Fotairi said the meeting tackled aspects related to electing the new general manager for the World Trade Organization, which is the post for which candidates from Thailand and New Zealand are competing.
The assistant foreign minister said that Egypt's stance regarding this matter focuses on the importance of this organization's coherence and the credibility of decisions regarding it, as well as equal opportunities among the different candidates.
El-Fotairi added that the meeting also tackled means of developing the commercial ties between the two countries as Payton said regarding this matter that he made communications with Egyptian experts to discuss Egyptian exports to his country out of the importance of developing trade between the two countries for the good of both.
