Arab anti-terrorism pact law to be enforced on Friday

The secretary general of the Arab ministers of the interior council, Ahmad al-Salem, has said that the Arab agreement to fight terrorism which was ratified by the Arab ministers of the interior in a joint meeting in 1998 will be put into actual realization as of Friday.
He stated that the number of states that submitted documents for ratifying the agreement increased to seven on April 7. He added that provision no. 40 of the agreement states that it will be valid "after 30 days from the date of submitting the ratified documents, or being approved by seven Arab states."
It was reported that the states which ratified the agreement so far are Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, UAE, Egypt, Palestine and Bahrain, whereas Tunisia had ratified it officially on April 22.
Meanwhile, the Saudi minister of the interior, who is the honorary president of the council of the Arab ministers of the interior, Prince Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz, asked to convene the first meeting of the committee he presided over to discuss the implementation of the agreement's provision "through executive measures in the security and judicial areas."
The committee includes the ministers of the interior from Jordan, Yemen, Egypt, Syria and Algeria and the ministers of justice in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Egypt and Morocco.
