Sudan and US sanctions changes
Sudan-USA, Politics, 5/3/1999
Sudanese Foreign Ministry secretary Hassan Abidin has described the US decision to alter the embargo imposed on Sudan as "a natural reflection of the failure of the policy of sanctions and embargo used by US administration to place political pressure on countries which refuse to abide by the US orders and instructions." The US said it will change its sanctions policy against Sudan.
In statements published in Khartoum on Friday, the Sudanese official added that the US decision to lift the embargo "reveals the contradiction between the US administration and the economic pressure groups in the US."
