Israeli candidate: Peace with Syria requires a price in the Golan

The candidate for the Israeli Cabinet Tommy Lapid for Shinui party has asserted that peace is not attainable with Syria without paying a price in the Golan.
Lapid, who is a very well-known journalist for the Israeli daily Maariv and the director general of the broadcast authority at the Israeli TV, said in a statement to the al Arab daily Kull al-Arab that he does not deny that he is "rightist," but he "supports withdrawal from the Golan, south Lebanon and the establishment of a Palestinian state.
He added: "I am ready to sign an agreement, already signed by the elected Israeli prime minister, concerning the Golan," adding that the prime minister elected later this month will reach an agreement with Syria.
He continued that there is no Israeli prime minister who can deceive himself that he will be able to sign a peace agreement with Syria without concessions in the Golan.
He said no Israeli prime minister who will sign an agreement until Tabaraya lake will stay a prime minister in Israel, thereby, "We have to find out a proper solution for the two sides."
