President Bouteflika said in the message he directed on May 1 to Algerian laborers on the anniversary of Labor Day that laborers are "the first ones to suffer from effects of the plan of structural reform, the depression of the oil markets and the deterioration of the purchase power. They are the first ones to be in complete disarray before the complexity of the recession and the reality of dangers threatening the country. "
Bouteflika reminded Algeria's laborers of the importance of dealing with the new economic reality, "Overcoming the crisis means to ensure the revival of the economy which will enable us to vanquish unemployment. It is to liberate initiative and encourage the public and private investment. "
