Four offers to develop Saudi communications network

Four international companies that work in communications presented offers to develop the telephone network in Saudi Arabia over two years at a cost of $6 billion to provide more than two million lines.
The project includes carrying out engineering work necessary for development.
The competing companies are the French Alcatel; the American Lucent, which established the previous project for the Saudi telephones lines; the Swedish Ericsson; the German Siemens, and the American - Dutch company Northern Telecom.
The project aims at improving the internal and international phone service inside Saudi Arabia.
ArabicNews.com learned that another project was raised to develop the mobile phone network after the completion of this contract.
