Libyan leader announces his country to hold meetings with Washington and London
Libya-USA, Politics, 4/30/1999

Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi told the Saudi daily "Okaz" that his country would hold talks with the USA and Britain to settle "pending issues."

In the interview published Thursday, the Libyan leader said Libya has agreed with the United Nations' secretary general and with Saudi and South African envoys to hold preliminary talks with the two countries, prior to the meeting with Libya.

Gaddafi also urged Annan to "note in his upcoming report to the Security Council that Libya has lived up to all its commitments and that, therefore, the lifting of sanctions is necessary."

In April, Libya handed over to the Netherlands two Libyan men, suspected of masterminding the 1988 Pan Am plane bombing, for trial by a Scottish judge panel.
