Expo could bring 9 percent increase in French share of Egyptian market
Egypt-France, Economics, 4/29/1999

The French commercial counselor in Cairo, Yves De Rico, expected that the France Expo 99 exhibition to be held on Saturday in Cairo may lead to an increase of French exports to the Egyptian market of 9%.

In a press conference held yesterday De Rico stated that the exhibition is a market that will also contribute to increasing Egyptian exports to France, adding that the number of French companies that will display their products in the exhibition has reached nearly 260 so far.

De Rico also said, "There is a shortage in the commercial balance between Egypt and France for the good of France," referring that French exports to the Egyptian market are worth 6 billion pounds, while France imports nearly of 700 million pounds from Egypt.

Bilateral symposia are being held among representatives of the French companies, Ahmed Bahgat's group, Ahmed Ezo, Arab builders, Shafik Gere and Orascom.
