Moroccan minister returns from colloquy on administration and citizenship

Moroccan minister of public service and administrative reform, Aziz El Hussein, returned home on Wednesday after taking part in a colloquy held in Lisbon on "better administration, further citizenship."
The minister told the Moroccan "TVM" channel that he held talks with representatives of several countries, mainly the Brazilian participant who briefed him on his country's efforts to bring the administration closer to citizens.
The minister, who took the floor during the colloquy, surveyed the challenges facing Morocco as a result of the evolution of its society and the changes in international trade and political-economic relations.
He also surveyed before participants Moroccan efforts to improve the performance of public administration, consisting mainly in modernizing and updating the legal arsenal regulating administration. He explained that these actions also seek to involve civil servants in thinking on means to better serve citizens, alleviate red tape and build confidence in their relations with citizens and with enterprises.
El Hussein also recalled the "good management pact" adopted by the Moroccan government to fight all forms of deviations and abuses in the administration, encourage transparency, rigor and rationalization of resources and promote communication with citizens, enterprises, customers and other administrations.
The colloquy, held by the Portuguese department of international administration, dealt with two major topics "public administration and services to citizens" and "better administration and better legislation, for an open administration."
