Two Syrian-Jordanian committees set up
Jordan-Syria, Politics, 4/29/1999

Jordanian Minister of the Interior Nayef al-Qadi has announced that during the visit paid by King Abdullah Bin Hussein of Jordan to Syria, it was agreed to establish two committees.

The first was established with the objective of facilitating the movement of citizens between the two countries, while the second intends to settle the problem of territories owned by Jordanian citizens in Syria and by Syrian citizens in Jordan.

The Jordanian minister added that the first committee will discuss means of facilitating the transit of citizens between the two countries and streamline border control.

He continued that the second committee will discuss agreements relating to the rights of Syrian and Jordanian farmers and means of enabling them to harvest and have access to their land. This would involve opening access via the borders to citizens of both states.
