Egyptian ambassador denies political deal with Israel to release Israeli spy
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 4/29/1999
The Egyptian ambassador in Amman, Hani Riyadh, has denied any political deal between Egypt and Israel to release the Israeli spy Azam Azam. In a press statement he released on Wednesday the Egyptian ambassador said, "This matter is not bargained," as stated in statements made last week by Egyptian President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak.
The Egyptian ambassador also denied reports on a rumored Egyptian-Israeli agreement according to which Azam will be released for Arab prisoners in the Israeli jails. The ambassador said that Egypt refuses the proposed Israeli deal in this respect.
