Mordechai will look for fundamental solutions with Syria and Lebanon
Syria-Israel, Politics, 4/29/1999

Chairman of the Israeli center party, Yitzhak Mordechai, said that when he had the post of the defense minister in the government of Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu he could not achieve any progress on the negotiation track with Syria.

In an interview with Israeli army radio on Wednesday, Mordechai added that he recently and after his resignation from the Israeli government made several attempts to open negotiation channels with Damascus and Lebanon through reaching a "middle solution" with Syria on the Golan.

He added that he, if elected as Premier for the next Israeli government, will work to reach fundamental solutions with Syria that will be conducive to the withdrawal of the Israeli army from south Lebanon and the establishment of a genuine peace with Syria and Lebanon, simultaneously.
