Morocco earmarks over $ 1 bln for water projects
Morocco, Economics, 4/28/1999
Morocco has set up a program to supply drinking water to 85 % of the rural inhabitants by year 2000, a Moroccan cabinet member told on Tuesday the chamber of advisors.
About 70 % of the program worth $ 1.03 billion will be financed by foreign loans and grants while the rest will be contributed by the local council and beneficiary users.
The program also seeks to improve water distribution networks through the building of more dams and private investment in the sector, the same source added.
