1.5 million telephone lines planned for Khartoum

The Sudanese company for communications, Sudatel, decided to implement a project to upgrade the fixed network from its current 200,000 lines to 1.5 million lines at the end of the new plan that is to end in 2003, after the increase of its capital to $250 million.
Moreover, the Sudanese company will present a number of upgraded services as well as reducing the costs of running and upgrading the mobile phone network through increasing the region that is included in the network outside Khartoum. The number of participants in the network currently amounts to 8,500.
