Candidates of Syrian PNF win local administration elections

Syrian Local Administration Minister Yehya Abu Asaleh on Sunday announced the final results of the local administration LAS elections, in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Local Administration in Damascus.
The minister started by reading a statement in which he said that following the success of the candidates, positive achievements will be worked out. He added, "The results of the LA elections have reflected a wider representation of the people's various strata and sectors, as the winners possess scientific qualifications and different experts, a matter which enables LA council to undertake their due role in a perfect way."
Then, the minister said the ministry has prepared lists of the 7,759 members who were informed of their victory by the central committees in all Syria's 14 provinces.
The number of the candidates was 29,773. The number of electorates was 9,101,155.
The number of LA members who belong to the Progressive National Front (PNF) parties was 5,497, and the independent winners numbered 2,262. The number of women who won was 273. The new councils include: 1,103 engineers, 374 lawyers, 884 university graduates and 1,301 intermediate institutes graduates, the Syrian minister said.
