Moroccan delegation confers with Libyan foreign minister
Morocco-Libya, Politics, 4/23/1999

A visiting Moroccan delegation, including representatives of some political parties and businessmen, was received in Tripoli on Wednesday by the Libyan foreign minister, reported the Libyan News agency JANA.

The Moroccan delegation had been received earlier in Syrte by Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi, to whom it conveyed the congratulations of the Moroccan people for Libya's victory in the Lockerbie issue.

The delegation renewed on the occasion Morocco's solidarity with Libya's stand on the issue, JANA said, adding that the delegation also hailed the efforts made by the Libyan leader to establish security, peace and stability in Africa.

The delegation arrived in Libya on Monday aboard the first flight that marked the resumption of air links between the two countries, following the recent lifting of the embargo decreed against Tripoli in 1992.

The Lockerbie issue that opposed for seven years Libya to some Western countries reached a solution after the two sides agreed that the two Libyan suspects in the crash of a Pan Am plane over the Scottish village of Lockerbie be tried by a panel of Scottish judges in the Netherlands. The deal was brokered by Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
