Libyan-brokered peace for Congo welcomed by Security Council

The United Nations Security Council yesterday welcomed a peace deal for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which was reached in Libya. Ambassador Alain Dejammet of France, current head of the Security Council, said the Security Council members "welcome the efforts of the African leaders convened in Syrte on the initiative of Colonel Moammar Gaddafi in contributing towards a lasting solution of the conflict in the DRC."
