Moroccan delegation congratulates Libya for victory in Lockerbie issue
Morocco-Libya, Politics, 4/22/1999

A Moroccan delegation extended to Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi the congratulations of the Moroccan people for Libya's victory in the Lockerbie issue.

The delegation including representatives of some political parties and businessmen renewed at a meeting on Wednesday here with the Libyan leader Morocco's solidarity with Libya's stand on the issue.

The delegation arrived in Libya on Monday aboard the first flight that marked the resumption of air links between the two countries, following the recent lifting of the embargo decreed against Tripoli in 1992.

The Lockerbie issue that opposed for seven years Libya to some Western countries reached a solution after the two sides agreed that the two Libyan suspects in the crash of a Pan Am plane over the Scottish village of Lockerbie be tried by a panel of Scottish judges in the Netherlands. The deal was brokered by Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
