Arab ministers of electricity discuss the progress in the electric link among them

Ministers of electricity in the Arab states for the Arab cabinet for electricity held their third meeting today at Arab League headquarters under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Industry and Electricity Hashem Yamani to discuss issues regarding joint Arab work in the fields of energy and electricity.

The ministers discussed the implementation of the electric link projects among the Arab states, among which is the project for Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and Turkey.

A report made by the office stated that regarding the Syrian - Lebanese track - it has been decided on a 50 kilometers link and that the contract regarding the study was signed and the implementation started, and that a line between Egypt and Jordan was put into action on October 21, 1998 and was officially opened by leaders of the two countries on March 16, 1999.

The reports also said the link project between Jordan and Syria will be achieved in the second half of 1999 as will a link between Syria and Turkey.
