Occupied Golan strikes in solidarity with Arab prisoners in Israel
Syria-Regional, Politics, 4/21/1999

The relatives of Syrian prisoners in Israel are to strike today in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Damascus in solidarity with the prisoners from the occupied Syrian Golan.

"Sons of Golan" who have immigrated since 1967 and students from Damascus University are to take part in the strike, in which the strikers call for releasing 20 Syrian prisoners, asserting that they are gravely abused by the Israeli occupying authorities.

Some of Golan's sons pointed out that Israel detained other people from the Golan, but they were freed after being raped and subjected to fines.

They also added that this strike comes as a part of other strikes in the occupied Arab territories in solidarity with Arab prisoners of Israel.
