Egypt takes part in UN's committee for fighting torture

The Egyptian assistant foreign minister for international affairs, Sayed Kassem El-Masri, is to leave Cairo on April 25 for Geneva to supervise the implementation of resisting and combating torture affiliated to the UN human rights committee, which comprises 10 people representing 10 countries, including Egypt.
El-Masri said Egypt will present a report on the implementation of the pact, pointing out that each country that has committed itself to the agreement's items will present a report on the application of the agreement on its soil.
He added that at the conclusion of its works, the committee will release recommendations including the positive elements noted in the countries' report as well as the negative elements and complementary measures seen by the committee that the countries should adopt to address the concerns outlined in its report.
