Syrian PA speaker to visit Iraq

The Iraqi daily al-Itihad issued on Tuesday said that the speaker of the Syrian People's Assembly, Abdul Qader Qaddoura, will pay a visit to Baghdad at the invitation of the Iraqi National Assembly.

The paper added that a delegation from the Iraqi National Council which recently visited Damascus had extended an invitation to Qaddoura to visit Baghdad and that Qaddoura accepted the invitation. The Iraqi daily added that the Syrian speaker also welcomed the proposals made then by the Iraqi delegation to open a branch for supervising the Syrian interests in Iraq and expressed hope that this matter will be completed very soon.

The delegation representing the Iraqi national council visited Damascus recently to explain Iraqi viewpoints concerning the perpetuated sanctions imposed on Iraq and to derive Syrian support for halting the military strikes waged by the British and US jet fighters.

Relations between Syria and Iraq have been developed following the opening of borders between the two states after which exchanged visits were made between the two sides.
