Bouteflika to take constitutional oath as seventh Algerian president since independence
Algeria, Politics, 4/20/1999
The constitutional council announced today the formal final results of Algerian presidential elections in which Abdul Aziz Bouteflika won with 73.3% of vote last Thursday.
The Algerian president-elect will take the constitutional oath as the seventh Algerian president since independence during a party held at the People's Palace, attended by leaders of parties and organizations, except the parties objecting to the result.
Following his oath, Bouteflika will meet with outgoing President Liamine Zeroual.
The six candidates who withdrew from presidential elections will meet on the day of Bouteflika's appointment to discuss forms of protest in the coming stage, including the final arrangements for collective march that is to be regulated on Monday from the May First region to the Martyrs' region at the heart of the capital.
