Lebanon calls on US, France to force Israel out of Arnoun
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 4/20/1999
Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss has denied that Lebanon was told by the US about Israel's refusal to withdraw from the Lebanese town of Arnoun.
In a statement he made in Beirut on Monday, the Lebanese prime minister said that the April Understanding Monitoring Committee met on Monday to discuss the Lebanese complaint filed against Israel. Lebanon has asked the representatives of the US and France to the committee to back its complaint and to work for expelling the Israeli forces from the town.
Meanwhile, the April Understanding Monitoring Committee on Monday started its meeting at UNIFIL headquarters in the Lebanese border town of al-Naqoura.
The committee will discuss three Lebanese complaints against Israel, pertaining to its reoccupation of Arnoun, wounding a television photographer and one other civilian and damaging property in Arab Salim town.
