Gaddafi and the mini African summit
Libya-Africa, Politics, 4/20/1999
Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi has expressed his satisfaction over the positive results achieved during the recent mini African summit. This was expressed in a speech Gaddafi gave on Sunday in the inauguration of works of the mini African summit which was held in the city of Syrte during the two days.
Gaddafi stated: "Our brothers, the African leaders who attended the summit, could avert the African continent, through their strong will, conflicts and crises when the spirit of African brotherhood and supreme African interests defeated the imperialist conspiracies aiming at undermining Africa's unity."
He added: "We believe we have reached an important thing and a great step in the interest of the continent when we had laid the practical solution for the greatest African problem -- the problem of the Great Lakes."
He went on that alliance will be maintained once again between the east and the west, north and southern as well central parts of the continent. Worth mentioning that participants in the mini African summit are presidents of Chad, Eritrea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and Libya.
