Jordan and the water issue with Israel

The Jordanian weekly al-Osbo' has said that the issue of "water share" from the water agreement with Israel was settled in the interest of Jordan which has categorically refused to negotiate this matter. The paper added that Jordan has reiterated its stand in not negotiating any matter included in the Jordanian- Israeli agreement.

The paper quoted well informed sources in Amman as saying that high ranking contacts have been recently made by the two sides during which the Jordanian side refused to give up "one cup of water" of its share of water.

The sources, the paper said, added that the Israeli side retreated from its previous position on reducing Jordan's share of water and agreed to provide Jordan with the full amount of water as stated in the agreement signed between them.
